Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. The first three manufacturers have begun production, with an additional eleven preparing to establish production lines, the defence ministry announced on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Conditions

The drones utilize a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and wicked” after six people were killed and many others wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in the capital shortly after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs daily, with last month’s daily average standing at approximately 170, based on defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Strikes Target Moscow's Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's maritime terminal of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports on Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff said its forces had fired domestically produced missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”
